Mr. President: Welcome. Now work and stop those CEO's

Welcome to the White House Mr. President.

12:18 PM EST during your inauguration speech

Welcome. Now we need to get ALL CEO's to get paid NO MORE then 20 times their least paid employee (or contractors)..

Step 1:
Any new funds dispensed to or loaned to ANY company must include a clause,
saying that executive level (D level or higher ) executives may NOT get paid more then 20 times less then their lowest paid employee.

Step 2: A new CEO pay tax for those corporations who ignore this. Tax to be paid by company, no gross-ups allowed. Taxes to be earmarked directly to need based programs in our country.

Step 3: A mandatory service requirement for ALL new citizens (17-18 years old)
It's time to require that ALL citizens of our country start to love and respect our country.
I propose a three year service program for ALL newly graduated HS students or 17 year olds (whichever comes later).

  1. There will be two separate service programs, a military, and a service program.
  2. There will be two programs, depending on whether the graduate goes to college or trade school or not.
The important ideas about this:
  1. It will not go into effect immediately, but after a period of "gentle" introduction.
  2. It will emphasize why service to our country is 'good service' and a good learning experience.
  3. The non military option will be focused on job training, job skills, as well as ensuring our new citizens are able to earn a living when their period of service is over.
  4. For those wishing, both the military and non-military options may lead to a formal career in the applicant's chosen profession.
  5. There will be no "special exemptions" for the privileged. Since there is a non-military service option, no one can claim they need to be exempt.

An Open letter (prelude to an op-ed!)

Dear Friends:

I'm writing this letter to you because I need help. No, not money, but a little bit of your time. For those of you who know me personally, you may remember when I started my second blog almost two years ago.

For those who don't know me, a brief history is in order. I realized over two years ago that our country was about to head into another "great" depression. I wondered what steps would Franklin Delano Roosevelt take if he were in charge, to lead us out of this huge morass. From this thinking I came up with the eleven points that are discussed in my blog (http://sos-newdeal.blogspot.com).

Some of these steps have already been taken, and some have been discussed by our next president as items he fervently believed in. I believe of my eleven proposals, 9 or 10 have either been covered or are in President Elect Obama's agenda.

My wife asked me the day after the election if I had any more predictions and the next day I realized I did. Before I share this with you, I want to talk about time frames. When I first realized that a huge financial crisis was coming, I didn't have a timeframe for it, and because of this, publicizing it wasn't critical. This is why I am asking for your help. The crisis we face, and my current proposal to deal with it is extremely time sensitive.

What I realized the day after the election was simply that the American auto industry is dead. Unfortunately, according to several different estimates, there are between one and three MILLION jobs (and some say as many as 10% of our entire economy) directly and indirectly related to the automobile industry in our country.

Can our country in its current economic conditions allow Detroit to die? No. But, and I believe this is my unique contribution and solution to this problem by assisting the Detroit car companies to survive.

In the big picture, the automobile industry in our country must die. Not because of the inefficiencies of the car companies, or because of poor management, or pushing inefficient models on us, but because it is not a green industry, and must change, or more accurately BE FORCED TO CHANGE, for it's own good.

This is my vision. Yes, the Government will save the big three automobile makers, but they will essentially stop making gas guzzling individual transportation machines, and instead become makers of mass transit, similar to the ones that used to exist in every single city and town in America until politics, intrigue, and perhaps collusion destroyed or purchased and closed them.

I am talking about light rail or trolleys/streetcars. The big three auto makers will become the new green mass transit for our new century.

How? Very simple. The new government loan program must indicate that the funds are to be used to retain workers, retrain and retool their manufacturing and assembly lines to make efficient mass transit.

So where do you come in? That's easy. I am asking you to help me publicize this, and demand that Detroit become responsible for some of the destruction they've created over the years by finally making good, and going after the new mass transit market.
How you ask? Very simple. One of the two proposals of mine that have not been discussed is a cross between an infrastructure project and a energy project, because it involves building NEW rail lines down the center (or side) of EVERY single major (interstate) highway in the country. These new lines will move tractor trailers (and cabs) from the beginning of the road, to the end (or whatever exit they are going to). A great deal of traffic and gas can be moved from the highways to these special freight lines, and would save a great deal of gas and time.

Your job? Please forward this message to anyone you feel might be of assistance, such as government leaders, mayors, governors, magazines, or newspapers (radio or TV), or even presidents.

Again, the reason I am asking for your help is that there is NO time to delay. Proposals to save Detroit will be coming in front of congress in the next several weeks. Unlike my original belief in the ability of "another" new deal to rescue the country, rescuing the car companies as they are today will help NO ONE.

Some other reasons to help save the industry.

1)The downstream jobs will also change, but they too will have a chance to survive and actually grow new "Green" jobs.
2)Making Detroit change its 'evil ways' will reduce our carbon emissions and give the country a viable way to make better mass transit available.
3)Just giving Detroit ca$h will do nothing except buy them more time.
4)The infrastructure required, including engineering, construction and manufacturing will help bring the entire country OUT of this recession, without cutting major sources of jobs.
5)This new infrastructure will help cities and states with the unemployed and those needing training.

Thanks again for your assistance.

PS: All I ask is that when you forward this message, you include all of it.

Congrats: President Elect Obama

I have to apologize. I was not sure that Obama could overcome the white "not a $^&#&^%" backlash.

It took almost 45 years for my parents generation to die out, and finally make it a more fairer country.

President Obama CAN manage to RULE and guide our country BACK to the greatness that it has lost during the past eight years of rule of George W "I delegate everything" Bush.

Essentially, EVERYTHING that George W. Bush has done as the 42nd President of this country should (and could be un-done) to restore our nation as the leading democracy in the world.

Barak Obama has done it.

Believe it or not, I highly believe that Obama has strongly endorsed my 11 point plan to rebuild our country, based on the FDR New deal.

M c C a i n c o n c e d e s at 11:20 PM

BUT he (McCain) DOESNT say he'll do ANYTHING to help OBAMA rebuild our country.

I am flabergasted, at his lack of tact.

I still say that Obama needs to give McCain an Important position in the cabinet, a la Lincoln.

PROOF: New Info coming...

I need to either put in a new blog, or a blog ENTRY where ALL articles that discuss points I have raised will be documented.

So far, in the WSJ, I see an interesting discussion in following the lead of Roosevelt, ie, In 1932, in the midst of the Great Depression, Congress and President Herbert Hoover created the Reconstruction Finance Corp. which invested 50 billion and owned stakes in OVER 6,000 financial institutions before it was terminated in 1957.

The Sky is falling-- The Sky is falling.... House vetoes recovery plan

Hey: The House actually Acted as the CONSTITUTION expected. They debated, and actually VETOED the "economic recovery act" that was written just yesterday...

Now I can't say (anymore), what a(bunch of) 'wuss' (to quote bugs bunny...).

And the Markets have fallen: down 700 points as of 2:30PM Monday.

So much for Trusting BUSHKIE for the third time without thinking about it..
Once Fooled, Twice shamed, third time paid attention...

There may actually be help after this all.

  1. We will crash.
  2. We WILL have problems.
  3. We WILL have a DEPRESSION.
  4. but We WILL survive.
we will NEED lots of help, but we need to reach the BOTTOM first.

We will reach the bottom.
The package has failed. The government has not failed yet.
And, the government WILL pick up the FDIC insurance on our bank accounts.

We need REFORM of Millionaire's Taxes.

WE need a MINIMUM Millionaire TAX:

NO one earning over ONE million dollars per year should be allowed
to pay ZERO (or less then zero--tax credits) taxes.

I propose a MINIMUM Millionaire Tax:

Gross income from ONE to FIVE million Dollars??
A minimum of ONE percent of your UNADJUSTED GROSS income... as your minimum income tax.

Gross income from FIVE to TEN million Dollars??
A minimum of Three percent of your UNADJUSTED GROSS income...as your minimum income tax.

Gross income from TEN to TWENTY million Dollars??
A minimum of TEN percent of your UNADJUSTED GROSS income...as your minimum income tax.

Gross income from TWENTY to FIFTY million Dollars??
A minimum of TWELVE percent of your UNADJUSTED GROSS income...as your minimum income tax.

Gross income OVER Fifty million Dollars??
A true bargain at a minimum of 14 percent of your UNADJUSTED GROSS income...as your minimum income tax.

THIS MIGHT HELP THE US economy.

OK, you wanted a Political discussion: Here goes.

The background I believe that:
* We're HEADING into a DEPRESSION.
* It's going to be as BAD as the last one.
* The current failures only bring us 25% into the problem!!
* According to Robert Reich (former Sec'y of Labor under Clinton): The only number that he EVER saw, defining the
depression was that the unemployment rate hovered around 25%.
* We need a new deal.
* After 58 years of NO Health Care Reform (since 1950!) it will FINALLY be coming soon...
* We've managed to WASTE a FULL generation (from Zero to thirty) with decaying social, educational, and interpersonal skills.
* Our nation is no longer DOING (producing) anything.
SO, from these few premises, I have extrapolated a great deal of items to FIX our society...

But....
We need to make sure that a number of issues are resolved ALL at once.
If we don't do them ALL at once, its like juggling three RUNNING chain saws, but dropping one!

Here's what I came up with:

We need to do the FOLLOWING to FIX our Society:
* Create A Living Wage
* Create a National Single payer Healthcare
* Create a National 3-4 year draft (or alternate service)
* Create a Federally paid Day Care starting at six months
* Implement Tax Reform on the ULTRA Rich
* Lobbying (Political Reform)
* Education
* Infrastructure (road /bridge/Systems repairs)
* Lack of Training/futures
* Truth and Reconciliation Commission
* A new "Manhattan" project, focusing on Energy INDEPENDENCE

Riddle-me-this: Financial Prediction

THIS is WHY we have this financial Crisis!! poor baby...

source: Elliott Pollack's Web site, in the middle of a 147 page powerpoint...) email if you really want this link!

1) BYE BYE Wa-Mu

2) Forgive the old Batman TV show quote:

But:

Food for thought:

JPMorgan/Chase * just bought WaMu. WaMu wend down, as they indicated that they lost SIX BILLION dollars in the past 9 months. They lost 16 Billion dollars in DEPOSITS (a mini bank RUN) in the past nine days.

JPMorgan/Chase got a bargin for 2 billion dollars, and taking over their debt.

HERE's # 2:

What would happen if JPMorgan/Chase (which also just swallowed Goldman Sachs)
decided they had no more $$$$

and THEY went bankrupt???

this is a very scary Thought.

But after all, I did say that I think we're HEADED for a DEPRESSION. Didn't I?

And after all, NObody (that counts-- No, really, NO-one at ALL!) reads this Blog, and it's a shame

Look at my 11 point plan for taking care of everything...

Remember, I still feel that this is the TIP of the ICEBERG, since there has STILL been not a word said about the CONSUMER DEBT that was ALSO packaged (like the sub-prime mortgages) into CDO's (consumer Debt Obligations).

We're gonna See WORSE Junk that this.

443PM Eastern Time: NPR Just quoted an economist who said:
Once upon a time, there was a war that they called The Great war, and then they had another one, and renamed the first one , World War I.

Just let's avoid another Depression!

Look HERE (WSJ) as well as HERE which I quote:
Scottsdale economist Elliott Pollack is among financial experts drawing some parallels between the current financial situation and the Great Depression.
Hey... if it LOOKS like a Rose, and SMELLS like a ROSE, is it STILL a ROSE???

* JPMorgan/Chase is really funny (at least to me...)
Chase Manhattan Bank was taken over by Chemical Bank in the early 1990's. The fact that they kept the Chase name always makes me smile...

Topic of Week: Education

Oh Boy. Education is a toughie.

My proposals (quick Review here)

* Create A Living Wage
* Create a National Single payer Healthcare
* Create a National 3-4 year draft (or alternate service)
* Create a Federally paid Day Care starting at six months
* Implement Tax Reform on the ULTRA Rich
* Lobbying (Political Reform)
* Education
* Infrastructure (road /bridge/Systems repairs)
* Lack of Training/futures
* Truth and Reconciliation Commission
* A new "Manhattan" project, focusing on Energy INDEPENDENCE

Education:
Believe it or not, education is covered in many different areas:

Federally paid Day Care starting at six months
Living Wage
National Single payer Healthcare
National 3-4 year draft (or alternate service)

These all cover education:

Let's see HOW...

We've discovered (based on lots of literature, and studies) that
Headstart type programs work very well. Terry Gross spoke to Geoffrey Canada (listenhere:36 mins)

Essentially, Mr. Canada has everything I have.
A cradle to grave (essentially) view that
To HELP EDUCATE our children, we need TONS of Wrap around services.

Such as medical healthcare, family assistance and training, and everything needed, to ensure that the children will get ahead.
The Harlem Children's Zone, writes New York Times reporter Paul Tough, is "the first and so far the only organization in the country that pulls together ... integrated social and educational services for thousands of children" — all under one umbrella, all in one place, all at one time.
What I say is similar:

The concept of federally paid day care starting at six months include:
  • Allow parents (and especially single parents) the ability to return to work to earn an honest income.
  • Help improve the bonding between babies and parents. Help ensure the next generation gets the proper love, attention and care they deserve. (Lack of this could lead to a condition called Reactive Attachment Disorder- See( DSM-IV reference here)
  • Help ensure that the infant gets the attention, and basic needs met, so that learning will be enhanced, and reinforced.
  • Parental involvement by both parents is essential for health family development.
  • Making this a new Federal program will ensure that everyone, especially those who need it most (the poor) will be able to take advantage of it. Since it is mandatory, and paid by the government (via the employer), the poor will be able to take this time off, that is urgent for future child development.
  • By making this for both fathers and mothers, the Government will be making a huge statement on how important it is for Fathers to take more of a part in the child's life.
What I see as "wrap-around services" includes work to integrate and include the family in the learning experience to help the child. Such services as offered by the Harlem Children's Zone as "the baby college", as well as their "The Three-Year-Old Journey", which works with parents of children who have won the HCZ Promise Academy charter school lottery. Held on Saturdays over several months, it teaches parents about their child's development, building language skills and parenting skills are KEY to making the dream come true for all of our citizens.

By the way, The HCZ doesnt stop at High School, it continues past college. Just like education is a never ending experience.

Other educational initiatives I propose include:

Mandatory Draft (either military or alternative service)
alternative service as job training career readiness program...

Education (and I include 'no child left behind') has failed us, and given us a generation of workers who are (for lack of a better term to describe it) slackers.

There still exists a huge gap between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots'.

Using the alternative service option of a 3-4 year draft as a (mandatory) (paid) job training program is a HUGE educational benefit.

Rather then having a great deal of 'have-nots' working for minimum wage at McBurgerHut,
these workers can be trained and given new careers doing meaningful work in REBUILDING America.

Some Key tenets of the alternative service are:
  • Inside United States Only
  • Communities of interest (say 60 kids from one neighborhood) will become a training unit.
  • Group training will create career paths for those who want to continue in service corp, similar to Military career paths.
  • Specialized training in the student's specific field of study.
  • Building a cadre of capable trained response agents for future crises.
  • Ensuring recruits have proper skills to earn a living wage to support their family.
So Education comes in many forms, and also includes all age groups, and income levels.

VP- Wrong- Oh. It's the Beauty Queen

Oh. I was wrong, but was I?

According to Wikipedia :
According to ABC News, McCain was originally thinking of selecting Lieberman, but was told that the Republican base would never accept Lieberman because of his moderate-to-liberal social views.

Going further, I heard that McCain was told that if he nominated Joe Lieberman, the convention would explode. Darn... that would have been must-see TV!

Palin has an interesting background.
First Alaskan Governor born after statehood granted (1964)
First Beauty Queen nominated for VP (Miss Alaska, 1984)
Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commissioner

She was appointed as chairman to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, where she chaired the Commission from 2003 to 2004, and also served as Ethics Supervisor.[19] She resigned in protest over what she called the "lack of ethics" of fellow Republican members.[20][6]
After she resigned, Palin exposed the state Republican Party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time and working closely with a company he was supposed to be regulating.

Shortly after she was elected Governor, Palin rescinded 35 appointments made by the previous Governor in the last hours of his administration, including that of his former chief of staff James "Jim" Clark to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority. This chief of staff, later pleaded guilty to conspiring with a defunct oil-field-services company to channel money into the previous governor's re-election campaign.

One blotch on her record. Sounds like partisan politics to me.

On July 11, 2008, Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan.
However, the fired commissioner alleges that his termination was simply a family political feud.
The former commissioner alleges that he was dismissed because he didn't want to to fire Palin’s former brother-in-law, a state trooper who was involved in a bitter divorce and child custody battle with Palin’s sister. The trooper admitted using a Taser on his 10-year-old stepson. Palin said that she heard him threatening to shoot her and McCann’s father.

The trooper was disciplined, but this seems like a clear-cut example of her cutting her own ethical standards to support her family.

Hmmm.. More republican politics...???
